History and Activities

Euroguidance Hungary is the Hungarian member of the European Union’s EUROGUIDANCE network. The Hungarian Centre started operating in March 2000 and has been promoting Hungarian education institutions ever since.

Due to the restructuring of the National Employment Service, Euroguidance Hungary has been functioning, under the same conditions, within the framework of the National Employment Office. Half of the centre’s budget, similarly to all other European centres, is financed by the European Commission, whilst the remaining 50% has to be provided from national sources.

The main objectives of the network are supporting mobility within Europe and strengthening international relations by orientation and collecting information. Euroguidance Hungary also publishes the schooling data of secondary and higher education institutions both on the Internet and on the PLOTEUS portal operated by the European Union.  The site is regularly updated to promote the secondary and higher education institutions of all member states.

Euroguidance Hungary publishes information material on the various scholarship opportunities, internships as well as on the Hungarian education system and the conditions of studying in Hungary.

Euroguidance Hungary promotes foreign language programmes available at Hungarian higher education institutions to increase the number of foreign students studying in Hungary. The centre’s international relations of facilitate increasing number of Hungarian students studying abroad.

The Information about Hungary CD is published in English and Hungarian and aims at promoting staying and studying in Hungary. The CD presents the Hungarian education system, the world of labour as well as the health care system. The CD is sent to all members of the Euroguidance network.

In accordance with the concept of lifelong learning, Euroguidance Hungary provides services to almost the whole society indirectly and informs institutions dealing with educational and vocational guidance directly.
